History
In the 1800's Refugio
Flores married Clara Pacheco.
They had 4 sons. Atanosio, Lino, Arnulfo and Jose.
Lino Flores married Antonia Martinez
and they lived in
Irapuato, Guanajuato, Mexico (Map
and information) in the late 1800's.
They had six children:
Mauro, Petra (Betty), Juana,
Mary, Pauline and Ignacio.
All six of the Flores children were born on a small homestead or ranch
called "The Calzada" that was owned by Germans.
(Pictures of "La Calzada")
Lino was the overseer of the homestead.
Mexican bandits raided the Flores home and robbed them of all their
posessions.
The bandits demanded the gold that they had stored away.
Lino would not tell them where it was hidden so they killed him.
Lino's father (Refugio) told the bandits where the gold was
hidden because he said
"No amount of gold is worth a mans life!"
After being robbed they had nothing so Lino's brother took
Antonia
and her children to Muskogee, Oklahoma, USA and he returned to Mexico.
They worked every job they could find - washing, ironing, sewing and
housekeeping
to make a living. One year to the day Lino's brother came
back to visit
and make sure they were getting along O.K.
